SunTaxMan Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Client tells me: 1. He has not received stimulus payment. 2. He received Social Security Disablity (NOT SS Retirement), well above $3,000 threshhold for stimulus payment qualification. His only other income is rental income, $4,500.00 net. 2007 return filed showing this $4,500 as his only income. 3. Friends of his, who have also been receiving SS Disability as their only income have received their stimulus payment. My reaction: 1. SS Disability does not qualify as "qualifying income" for stimulus payment AND, 2. SS Disability would not have had 1099-G issued, so we made no entry on 1040 as "SS received" - taxable or not is moot issue. 3. Rental income is not "qualifying income" for stimulus payment. 4. His "friends," therefore should NOT have received the stimulus payment. 5. The fact that client has not received stimulus payment is the way it should be. Am I missing something? Quote
jainen Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 >>Am I missing something?<< Yes, you are missing Form SSA-1099 which would show the amount of his Social Security benefit that is qualifying income. See the answer to the question that starts, " I am filling out the special Form 1040A.." at http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179181,00.html Quote
