Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 30, 2023 Report Posted March 30, 2023 I think I read here before how to determine which dependent had been claimed but must be using all the wrong search terms. Anyone know how to find it? Quote
Lion EA Posted March 30, 2023 Report Posted March 30, 2023 I had that in a past year, and it included a number buried in the error code, something like having a (1) or (2) to designate which dependent. Haven't seen it lately, thank goodness, so that's just my old memory trying to dredge up something I once saw! Quote
TexTaxToo Posted March 30, 2023 Report Posted March 30, 2023 Normally, the last 4 digits of the SSN of the dependent are provided as additional information for the reject. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 31, 2023 Author Report Posted March 31, 2023 Thanks for this information. I don't see SSN but there is a 1 in a red box. Here is what the ATX help says: Click the red box. The cursor moves to the associated field (highlighted in yellow). To move to the next field associated with that error, click the Next button at the bottom right of the Rejection Error pane. To return to the previous field associated with the error, click Previous. However, my cursor did not move to a field highlighted in yellow. So do I assume it just means the first listed? I don't need this right now. I guess the client will have to figure it out. Thanks for suggestions! Quote
Lion EA Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) You posted this under ACA. Is that because they had marketplace insurance that included someone NOT on their return, and you need to do an allocation? Or, that they have a dependent on their return who also filed a tax return, so you need to include the dependent's AGI? Edited April 1, 2023 by jklcpa moved from ACA forum Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 31, 2023 Author Report Posted March 31, 2023 Wow! How did that happen? I have no idea how this post ended up there as I almost never have the occasion to even look at the forum having so few with ACA. Maybe I should repost where it belongs! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Lion. I'm going with hacker interference 1 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 31, 2023 Author Report Posted March 31, 2023 I somehow posted this under ACA, no idea how, but maybe someone else here has ideas. I think I have to call tech support as the help for that field was not helpful. I think I read here before how to determine which dependent had been claimed but must be using all the wrong search terms. Anyone know how to find it? Quote
WITAXLADY Posted March 31, 2023 Report Posted March 31, 2023 Usually it points to the correct one being claimed.. Otherwise I do the remove and file again method.. Otherwise go to ATX solution Status on e-file status and follow that - it will tell you D 2 Quote

Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 31, 2023 Author Report Posted March 31, 2023 Thank you!!! That showed the SSN so now I have an answer without tech support, just super fine colleague support. Thanks again! Quote
