BulldogTom Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 I agreed to help out a non-profit organized in Louisiana. I got the paperwork Monday and there are payments to the Department of Revenue for delinquent sales tax returns. Non-profit formed in July, has not had any taxable sales since they organized. From what I can read online, you are required to file a return every month for the first 6 months of existence. They have not filed any returns with the Department of Revenue. Is there a way to fix this mess? Can I get the payments back by filing the returns with Zero sales back to July? Or will that just make it worse? Should I just file the months that they have not filed an chalk it up to "education" on the months that have been paid? Thanks in advance. Tom Longview, TX Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 File the zero returns; LDR will eventually match the forms with the payments and refund the difference, less a late filing penalty. Quote
