Max W Posted October 10, 2022 Report Posted October 10, 2022 Client called the IRS to get transcripts and the IRS person also extended the filing deadline 2 weeks. I know they can extend deadlines to file when it is related to installment agreements and the like, but for the actually filing deadline???? Anyone ever heard of this? Quote
ILLMAS Posted October 10, 2022 Report Posted October 10, 2022 Have them call back to confirm and to get back to you. Quote

Lee B Posted October 10, 2022 Report Posted October 10, 2022 Perhaps this is what happened Your client calls on Monday October 3rd and gets a transcript and while talking, the agent says you have 14 more days to file, which is October 17th. 2 Quote
Max W Posted October 11, 2022 Author Report Posted October 11, 2022 The client had already called back, before I requested him to do so, and confirmed it with a second personand he was told he had an extension until the end of the month. 1 Quote
Lee B Posted October 11, 2022 Report Posted October 11, 2022 If so, I hope someone can come up an explanation and some documentation explaining how this procedure works. Can I tell my my client that if he calls in and asks for a transcript he will automatically get an additional 14 day extension ? Quote

(New tax laws added something new to almost every return, so it's taking me a bit longer preparing/proofing each return. Same number of clients, but I won't be done on time!) If it would gain me two weeks, I'd wait on hold to get a few clients extensions. The client requested an extension, as well as the transcripts. I don't know that the transcripts played a roll or not. 1 Quote

I am not aware of any authority for an agent to grant a filing extension? How well do you know this client? You mentioned a transcript, new client? 4 Quote

Lion EA Posted November 11, 2022 Report Posted November 11, 2022 Maybe they are halting dunning letters until then, but deadline and accruing P&I continue as usual. 5 Quote

Catherine Posted November 11, 2022 Report Posted November 11, 2022 Does your client often hear these voices? More to the point, do those voices recommend anything dangerous to you? 2 4 Quote
