AVG notified me that my free AVG 7.5 is about to expire and I needed to upgrade to 8.0 I did this and took all the steps to download the free version to my computers. The program congratulated me and said I am now fully protected but when I opened the new program it says I might not be protected because some componets report an error. Below that it says the antispyware and the antivirus; database is outdated. I can't find a way to correct this yet. Does anyone know if I'm missing something? Have other people updated recently.

I just downloaded the new version as well, and after a reboot, I updated the program. I am happy to report all is well. Basically, your program has no virus definitions in it's database, so it needs to get them. Just open it up, and select "Update Now" and you should be fine.

That was so amazingly easy I can't believe it. Thank you. That is a classic, "can't see the forest through the trees" example.

That's Why I Love This Board!!!

Everyone is eager to help even with non-tax issues. Some of my greatest computer fixes have come from this board as well as the old community.

My opinion however, is that everyone is soooooo much more helpful on this board than on the previous one.

MUCH MORE HELPFUL THAN ANYOTHER BOARD!.

Great little program AVG. I have noticed over time that it seems to catch things the others do not. Uses less resources and therefore does not get in my way like the others did, yet the reviewers don't rate it well. Think they are paid by the competition!

My computer expert sons think it's the best of the free ones, Joel. In fact, according to them, if you have hardware protection like routers, etc, it's all most people need.
