Janitor Bob Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I do not know what to do here....I have a client dropped her stuff for me to do her 2005 return...It included a 1099-MISC. I had set the folder on a table and opened a window (nice day here)...breeze blew the folder open and client's 1099-MISC landed on the floor. What caught my attention was the Lila the giant dog was oddly quite...not growling chewing things up like she ususlly does...Then I smelled it coming from the front room. 1099-MISC...on the floor...and yes Lila the giant dog pooped on it. I cleaned it off, but I can barely read it as it is stained. Quote
jklcpa Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 OMG JB, maybe it'll be more easily read when it dries! Quote
PapaJoe Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Must be nice to have a dog that is paper trained. Quote
JohnH Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Soak the 1099 in a Clorox solution. Don't know if it will be any easier to read, but at least it's disinfected. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Chlorox? Bleach? Easier to read? Hmmm, think through that one again. Quote
joelgilb Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Create a new one in ATX with the same numbers and return that one to the client, they probably won't figure it out, and if they do I bet they won't even care. Might even get a laugh out of it. and Then eat the other one to destroy the evidence! JK on this part Joel (PS are you sure it isn't baby poop? Are you using your dog to cover up your own incontinuity?) Quote
JohnH Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Chlorox? Bleach? Easier to read? Hmmm, think through that one again. Well, remember I was more focused on the disinfecting aspect than on the actual info on the 1099. Gotta keep your priorities right in a situation like this. Quote
joanmcq Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I'm constantly afraid one of my cats will pee on my client files. Hasn't happened yet, but I get nervous when I have 'em piled on the floor. Like now. Quote
AnnieR Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 As I always say----s---happens! AnnieR Quote

Julie Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Thanks for reminding me why my office is not at my house. We've only had Sassy for a couple months now, and she's nowhere near housebroken yet. And she's still too afraid of people to be loose among clients. I do not know what to do here....I have a client dropped her stuff for me to do her 2005 return...It included a 1099-MISC.
