RitaB Posted April 14, 2022 Report Posted April 14, 2022 I have a huge return for a taxpayer deceased March 2021. The extension request e-file was accepted. Would that necessarily mean that his SSN has NOT been locked? I really don't want spouse to paper file this return, but I also don't want her to have to come back to the office to pick up a paper copy. Just too much. I'll probably just print another copy and tell her not to mail it unless I tell her to do so. 1 Quote
Lion EA Posted April 14, 2022 Report Posted April 14, 2022 I don't think there's a pattern any longer. I think, due to ID theft, SSNs are being locked sooner and forever. Try e-filing, but be prepared to paper file, sounds like a plan. (I used to see SSNs locked if 2022 year was DOD, but ok to e-file if 2021 was DOD. Don't know how that worked.) 2 Quote
mwrightea Posted April 14, 2022 Report Posted April 14, 2022 I filed one for a March 2021 deceased client last week and had no problems at all. 1 Quote
RitaB Posted April 15, 2022 Author Report Posted April 15, 2022 Well, it was rejected. But, wait! Because I needed to attach PDF file of Form 1116 Sch B. Which was of course soooooooo large (two whole pages) everything might melt in cyberspace blah, blah, blah. Got that done, and it was accepted. Five minute party! 4 5 Quote
joanmcq Posted April 16, 2022 Report Posted April 16, 2022 You’re supposed to attach both regular & AMT Sch. B. 4 pages. 2 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted April 16, 2022 Report Posted April 16, 2022 I only attached 2 pages to my first 1116. Not worrying about it. 4 1 Quote

I've only had one return with AMT in the past 4 years. And I'd bet good money that no one at the IRS ever opens up the things we attach. 3 1 Quote
Catherine Posted April 16, 2022 Report Posted April 16, 2022 I've only been attaching the regular pdf, not the AMT pdf. Wouldn't bother unless AMT was an issue and, like Abby, I haven't seen anyone hit with AMT in several years. 1 Quote
