Pacun Posted April 12, 2022 Report Posted April 12, 2022 I have a client with a child, both US citizens, that live in Europe. How do I enter $600 non-refundable child tax credit and $1,400 refundable additional child tax credit like before? Quote
Lion EA Posted April 12, 2022 Report Posted April 12, 2022 I haven't encountered your scenario yet. But isn't the old $2,000 still fully refundable under one of the new laws? Maybe for 2021 only? Quote

TexTaxToo Posted April 13, 2022 Report Posted April 13, 2022 Citizens residing outside the U.S. half the year can still get the full new amount ($3000 or $3600 per child) as a non-refundable credit (if below the AGI threshold). If they don't have enough tax liability to make use of it, they get up to $1400 as a refundable credit as in previous years. Quote
Pacun Posted April 13, 2022 Author Report Posted April 13, 2022 My client have lived in Spain for a couple of years and they are not planning to come back any time soon. Quote
