Philip1117 Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 I have a maryland resident worked in pa. It’s asking to attach state return for pa. no return will be filed for pa since they got credit for tax paid to pa. I created and attached pa but it still won’t efile. What am I missing. Quote
Pacun Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 MD has reciprocal agreements with PA, DC, VA and WV. I know for DC and VA, people pay taxes where they live. So, if this would be a MD person who worked in DC (my area of semi expertise), I would file MD as resident and file a DC non-resident form requesting the tax withheld by mistake. Employers in DC should withhold taxes for MD and not for DC since the person told them he was a MD resident. I am not sure if that's the way it works for PA, but I am 77.777% sure that it might work the same way. Quote

Did they have PA withholding? If not, just file MD as if the worked in MD. If they had PA withheld, file nonres PA to get refunded and file MD like normal with no credit for taxes paid to PA. 3 Quote
