Transmitted to EFC for 18 hours

Correct me if I am wrong. We used to be able to call ATX and ask them to stop a return before it was "Transmitted to Agency". I have had a return for 18 as "Transmitted to EFC" for 18 hours and ATX said it cannot be stopped. They said that after we click "transmit" no one can stop it.

I have a return that was transmitted 4:25 eastern time yesterday and still showing "Transmitted to EFC".  Wondering if ATX is having a problem?

transmitted all of my S-Corp and Partnership extensions on Friday/Saturday and half show "Transmitted to EFC" and other half "Transmitted to Agency" - usually those are accepted within couple hours

Yep.  Mine didn't move to Transmitted to Agency for hours yesterday, so that seemed like an ATX problem.  But then it's still sitting there this morning, so maybe it's IRS.

Might be ATX because I transmitted returns yesterday during day and evening and again this morning, and each time received the acks a few minutes later.

I transmitted some Business Entity Extensions this morning and received my acks in less than 15 minutes.

Still waiting on Federal Acks from yesterday.   Got the State Acks.   Weird.   Please update if you start getting Fed acks.   Will be monitoring this thread.

Now that we have sorted out that portion of my info, can someone help me with my original question/concern?

How does one get state acknowledgment before federal?  I tend to file both at the same time, but I cannot transmit the state until the federal clears.

On April 14, I change my settings from "hold state" to "do not hold state" and that allows me to send both at the same time. I guess people do it from the very beginning.

When the IRS rejects a return that affects both state and federal, those people wish they "held" the state return.  On April 14th and 15th, I don't have time to be waiting for the IRS and that's why I make the change.

I’ve never been able to have ATX stop an efile. Never thought it could be done.
