rla20cpa Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 Has anyone had any issues with the 2021 Sch EIC populating (i.e. Line 4a)? As such the program is not calculating the EIC. This particular client has a $7,200 Child Credit and qualifies for a $5,000 EIC per the chart. Form 1040, p.2, line 27 has the obligatory "no" next to it. Would rather not override. Thoughts? Quote
rla20cpa Posted February 3, 2022 Author Report Posted February 3, 2022 p.s. Technically Worksheet A is not populating. Almost the exact facts and circumstances as 2020 when EIC was $5,920. Quote
Pacun Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Check all the entries on "dependents" on 1040. EIC line 4a is populated based on your selection on the Dependents tab. Don't override anything, rather see your answers on form Sch EIC on both Qualifying child and EIC question. I will bet you will find the/your mistake. Quote
rla20cpa Posted February 3, 2022 Author Report Posted February 3, 2022 FWIW, under "EIC questions", Step 3, #5 ......... "Are you legally separated ........" - If I choose "yes", it will compute the credit. The taxpayers, in fact, are not separated. Maybe a context issue? Quote
Pacun Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Read carefully questions 2, 3, 4, and 5. If you answer those correctly, the credit will be calculated if the person qualifies. If it doesn't calculate, it is because TP doesn't qualify or the Tax preparer is not jumping to question 6 as instructed. Quote
rla20cpa Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 Thank you for the responses! Quote
KATHERINE Posted February 8, 2022 Report Posted February 8, 2022 Hi, try to remove the forms, and add it back, it may work. Quote
