joanmcq Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 I have a 2020 return I’ve been hanging on to until efiling opened. I submitted it yesterday and it was rejected. It still had the 2021 submission ID even though I had deleted the old 8879 and EF Info pages & recreated them. Now, trying to recreate them, I keep getting the same 2021 submission ID. Does anyone know if something has changed with submitting prior years? How can I get this efiled? Quote
jklcpa Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Be sure to close the return after deleting the 8879 and EF Info page, then reopen the return add them back and recreate the efile. 5 Quote
kimjo Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 An ATX support rep helped me about a year ago in this matter. She said that changing preparers will produce a new 8879. She had me add a phantom preparer in the Manager, change the preparer in the return, then change back in the Prep Manager. Hope this helps 1 Quote

That works, filed a couple today. But note that the submission ID does not change to 2022 until you create the new efile. 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 Mine went through and I swear the ID still said 2021 Quote
DANRVAN Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 After you delete the EF info page and 8879, reopen the return and add them back the ID will show 2021. But after you create the efile it changes to 2022. Quote
JackieCPA Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 I never have to delete and re-add. I just recreate the e-file and it fixes it and changes the submission ID to have the correct year. 1 Quote
joanmcq Posted February 5, 2022 Author Report Posted February 5, 2022 That’s what I’ve always done in the past. This particular one…jeesh Quote
TAXMAN Posted February 6, 2022 Report Posted February 6, 2022 I was told that I have to wait for ATX to reject b-4 it will correct itself so I will try what JackieCPA said. Unless someone else is having the same problem and a cure. I have about 5 of these to fix. Quote

Unless someone else is having the same problem and a cure. I have about 5 of these to fix. That's what happened to me. Recently efiled both 2019 and 2020. Had to get EFC rejection, then re-create the efile in order to get the 2022 in the id number. Quote
JackieCPA Posted February 7, 2022 Report Posted February 7, 2022 E-file the return and hit receive ack right away because it should reject instantly then you can go back into the client, recreate the efile, and it will fix. 1 Quote

This is the way I've always done it, but I'm going to try the preparer change next time. Quote
