cpabsd Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Client's spouse died in February of 2007. They can file as MFJ still. The software is requiring a pin for the 8879 for the deceased spouse. I have the date of death listed on the Filer's info page. What am I missing? Quote
Jerry W Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 You may use any five digit PIN except all zeros. This should satisfy the software. Jerry W Quote
jklcpa Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 It's asking for the pin because the return still requires a signature on both lines if it's a joint return. The surviving spouse would sign on both lines of the 8879 just like he or she'd have to do on the 1040. Quote
