Margaret CPA in OH Posted April 5, 2021 Report Posted April 5, 2021 For the 4th time my e-services account has had attempted and failed access thus locked - again - for 24 hours. Why me? The only good thing is that it means access was denied to whoever is trying this. Just so frustrating! It's good the sun is shining today and 69 degrees plus a good workout, finally, back at the gym so my mood isn't as bad as it could be. Hope your Monday is going well! 3 Quote
ILLMAS Posted April 5, 2021 Report Posted April 5, 2021 Try using Internet explorer or Edge, I had the same problem when trying to use Firefox and Chrome. Quote
PaulH Posted April 5, 2021 Report Posted April 5, 2021 Don't know if e-services will allow this, but when that happened to my bank account several times, I changed my username to a random string (basically a second password), and it hasn't happened since. 1 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted April 5, 2021 Author Report Posted April 5, 2021 ILLMAS, this has nothing at all to do with the browser I use. I have always used IE per IRS 'requirements' until this last attempted breach when the agent at the help desk told me to use Chrome. And this happened because of the previous attempted hack and I had to reset my password. It isn't me trying unsuccessfully to login and failing. It's someone else trying to hack in. PaulH, the help desk agent said I could not change my username but maybe I will ask again. I mean, with 4, count 'em, 4 hack attempts, it seems that I should be able to do that. Bank accounts, etc. are much easier, in my opinion, to change but it is appropriate for IRS to make it this hard. I'm just tired of being the victim of an e-services hack. I'll stop complaining now. It's 73 and sunny, a beautiful day. I just need to get this fixed soon to check on some 2848's I uploaded recently. 1 Quote
