BobH Posted March 19, 2021 Report Posted March 19, 2021 I have a client who paid her fourth quarter individual estimated tax payment using payUSAtax. The payment was applied to 2021. Is there any way to change it to 2020? Quote

I had this happen several years ago, and the IRS said sorry, too bad, can't move it. We'll credit it toward year X and you'll have to send in another payment for year X-1. I would really love to know if that situation has changed. I have been able to get EFTPS and STATE payments made incorrectly adjusted, but not federal. Quote
grandmabee Posted March 20, 2021 Report Posted March 20, 2021 At this point just go with it. Her next 1st quarter is almost due now. I know maybe 2210 issues but good luck calling IRS. Quote
Max W Posted March 20, 2021 Report Posted March 20, 2021 I have been able to move payments, using the practitioner line. Of course you will need a 2848, or 8821. Quote
BobH Posted March 22, 2021 Author Report Posted March 22, 2021 Form 2848 and a phone call to the practitioner line took care of it. 4 Quote
