PattyK Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I sure could use some help with this one. I have a attorney client what received, in addtion to his w-2 wages from his employer ( a law firm) a 1099 Misc with an entry in box 14 ( Gross proceeds paid to an attorney). I have never seen an entry in that box. Maybe someone out there could explain where to report that income. Since it states Gross proceeds, I am thinking there may be a way to reduce it with expenses. HELP. thanks very much. Quote
indyscott Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Patty, that's what they do with amounts paid to attorneys who receive the whole settlement and then have to pay their client, and the doctors, and everyone else who's supposed to get paid from the proceeds. BTW, don't cry too much for the attorneys. John Edwards seemed to do all right, as did many of John Grisham's characters. Quote
PattyK Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 Thank you so much for the reply. Trust me I do not feel sorry for my client, my concern was with my ability to fill out his tax forms correctly! Thanks again, for taking the time to assist me. That is what makes this site so valuable to folks like me. Thanks again. Have a good day! Quote
