Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 The other day I was looking at the Unemployment topic and did something that caused the panel to move to the left side leaving about 1/3 of the screen on the right that has a listing of things. I have no idea how to change it back to the original look and it is only on this topic, it didn't carry over. Ideas on what I did, more importantly how to undo it? Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 I am not sure it is something that you did, Margaret, because I am seeing that topic the same way. It is the topic labeled "Unemployment Compensation Exclusion" and the right side of the screen shows the number of posters, who is following, who has the most popular post, etc. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 18, 2021 Author Report Posted March 18, 2021 Exactly! I was certain it was something I did and still might be thus ruining it for everyone. Oh well, eventually that thread will disappear and so will the weirdness. Thanks for replying, Gail! It's good to know one is not alone. 1 Quote

jklcpa Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 I don't think it was anything I did and have asked Eric about it. I wonder if it is something built into the forum when a very active topic has a lot of replies. Quote

Eric Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 It's nothing you did, Margaret, don't fear the weirdness (or Leprechauns) It was automatic, and it's called a Topic View Summary. It will sometimes be added to a thread based on a number of factors, but it's especially likely to show up in a thread that has seen a lot of activity. We don't see many threads that get this long here, so that's probably why you haven't seen it before. Quote A topic is more than a collection of posts; it's a living entity that ebbs and flows over time. Evergreen topics can see month-long gaps between posts and longer topics spanning numerous pages can end up hard to navigate through to find useful content. With this in mind, we've added numerous improvements to the topic view to bring context and summaries key areas within the topic. Quote This sidebar acts much like a summary of activity within the topic. It very quickly lets you know how old the topic is and how long it has been since the last reply. This context is essential if you are unwittingly replying to an older topic. Quote Most topics are driven by a handful of key members. The topic activity section shows you who have been most active within the topic Popular days lets you dig into the 'meat' of the topic which may have evolved quickly over several days. More often than not, a single post attracts more reactions if it is particularly helpful or insightful, and this is shown too. Finally, a mini gallery of all upload images allows you to review media that has been attached to posts. 2 3 Quote
