I hope this is true, because as if my year didn't already suck so much, my husband and I have Covid. I was afraid that he was sick last week, but he was positive that he was not and did not get tested. I got sick over the weekend and tested positive yesterday. He got tested today, but we know the answer. His dr is sending him to a Covid clinic tomorrow to get checked over, because he is so high risk. I just need to keep him at home with me. I already lost my mom and I can't lose him, too. I hate this year. 12 Quote
jklcpa Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 @NECPA in NEBRASKA Oh no, I'm sorry to read this! I hope you both have mild cases and feel better soon. Do you have any other help in the office, maybe to prepare extensions? 2 Quote

I live in KS; I could figure out a way to help file extensions if need be. 1 Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 Judy, I don't have any help. My husband is my helper. His COPD and heart failure make him high risk, but he has only had to use his rescue inhaler once so far. They will xray him tomorrow and then we will see what they decide to do. At least he is stuck in the house with me and I can keep on eye on him. I am mainly exhausted and week. I keep hoping that I will lose my appetite, but no such luck! I'm still hungry, but can't work out at all. Thanks, Bonnie Quote

joanmcq Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 File your extensions now while you have the energy to do so. For everyone. Then if you have the energy to complete them, no harm no foul. That way you are covered if either you or your husband have worse than a mild case. 6 1 Quote

Extensions are life savers and sanity checks, especially at this time of year and in these unusual circumstances. 2 Quote
Randall Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 But if they have the auto extensions like last year, it will save a lot of time not to deal with the individual ones. Form 8878, etc. 2 Quote
Yardley CPA Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 Why wait to announce this? If the plan is to extend to July 15, make the announcement and allow everyone to plan accordingly. We're less than a month away from the normal due date. It's not like this is a new concept. Put all politics and ulterior motives aside. 5 Quote
Lee B Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 My grandson, my daughter and my son in law all had covid 19 in early December. They had a tough week, but they are all fine now. Focus on taking care of your husband and yourself. 3 Quote

Gail in Virginia Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 I can't offer to help with extensions since I don't use ATX and would probably cause more problems than I would solve, but I will keep you and ESPECIALLY your husband in my prayers. I sincerely hope you have mild cases that you recover from both quickly and completely. 4 Quote

Max W Posted March 17, 2021 Report Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) Drake announced 38 mins ago that it was ONLY being extended to MAY 17. It does not include an extension for estimated tax payments - still Apr 15. Edited March 17, 2021 by Max W additional info 1 Quote
Lee B Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 A modest compromise, only applies to filing 2020 Form 1040 and the balance due. Does not apply to any other forms or payments. 1 Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 Some Good News! My husband went to the Covid Clinic today and he does not have pneumonia. His lungs are clear and the horrible cough is Covid and his COPD combined. We just have to keep watching his oxygen levels. I do not recommend both people in the house having Covid at once. We are both exhausted and spend more time thinking about moving than actually moving. I was so active before this and I hate it. I hope that I get some strength back by the end of the week. I did pull out the vacuum and push it around tonight. I can only stand so much black fur from three cats. Thanks for all of the support. I am happy about the 5/17 deadline, but I don't know if any of my states will go for it. Bonnie 7 Quote

TAXMAN Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 Question? Since this applies to tax returns and payments does this extend IRA contributions as well. Quote
Lee B Posted March 18, 2021 Report Posted March 18, 2021 IR 2021-59 says formal guidance will be issued soon. Quote
