Christian Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 I received a reject stating the SSN listed for the client shows the Social Security Administration listing his wife as deceased. i rechecked the filing and the number sent is correct. She called the local Social Security office and they merely said she was indicated as living. Before we get into an endless back and forth is there a number I could call and get this resolved quickly ? I am going to resubmit the efile but I expect another reject. Quote
Lion EA Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 "quickly?"!! TAS maybe. E-file Help Desk, if they're even functioning with so many working from home. Her Congressperson. https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-central Quote
Christian Posted March 15, 2021 Author Report Posted March 15, 2021 I know it's a lot to hope for "quickly". It's too much of a strain for some functionary at Social Security to pick up a phone and make a call to Andover. I have already advised the client to call the local member of congress if the second efile fails. Quote
Pacun Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 Quickly seems a word of the past. I think you best bet will be to paper file. All other avenues might take a couple of years which could be twice as long as paper filing. Quote

Abby Normal Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 Fast, quick or quickly? Fast and quick mean moving with great speed. Fast is both an adjective and an adverb. Quick is an adjective and the adverb form is quickly. Compare It was a fast train. We need to have a quick chat before the meeting. Fast and quick are adjectives. You walk very fast! Not: … very fastly. We should do it as quickly as possible. Fast and quickly are adverbs. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/grammar/british-grammar/fast-quick-or-quickly 3 Quote
Lion EA Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 Well that makes as much sense as the instructions for UI benefits! Maybe we can't blame the lawyers who write the laws when the English language is not consistent. 1 Quote
