ETax847 Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 Today I tried to E-File my first 1099-NEC and received the following error message, "Some marked E-files cannot be transmitted and have been unmarked." Does anyone know why the 1099-NEC cannot be E-filed at this time? Quote
Lee B Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 The IRS started accepting efiled 1099s on the 8th, so the problem may be with your software provider. Quote
ETax847 Posted January 12, 2021 Author Report Posted January 12, 2021 I use ATX. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that the client lives in Michigan. Do any states preclude one from E-filing a 1099 NEC? Quote
BulldogTom Posted January 12, 2021 Report Posted January 12, 2021 I would call ATX about the e file issue (I don't e file 1099s so I don't have an answer for that). I do know that IRS is not sharing the info with states from the 1099NEC. I don't think they have had time to update their systems to make it happen. In CA, we have to file the NEC with both the IRS and CA. CA has provided an address or a fax number to send the forms to. Tom Modesto, CA Quote
Pacun Posted January 13, 2021 Report Posted January 13, 2021 ETax847... so you tried to efile a few 1099NECs and all of them were efiled but one was rejected by the software while preparing the efile file? Quote
ETax847 Posted January 13, 2021 Author Report Posted January 13, 2021 I tried again today, and it was transmitted. I'm not sure what the bug was, but it seems to be gone. Thanks for all the responses! Quote
DASCPAinMD Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 Been using ATX 1099-W2 Program for 20+ years. Software is current, forms are current. All 39 1099 e-file submissions rejected. No errors on any return. Submitted 01/25/22 so I know IRS is open. Cannot get past Virtual Assistant to speak to a person. Any ideas? Quote
JRS Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) "If you are participating in the Fed/State Combined Filing Program then there is no need to file the 1099-NEC with the FTB, the IRS will forward it on to the FTB. If you are not participating in the Combined Filing Program then you must file the 1099-NEC with the FTB." From Spidell Edited January 25, 2022 by JRS Source 1 Quote
