JackieCPA Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 E-filing Form 990 is mandatory for tax years beginning after July 1, 2019, unless the exceptions listed in the instructions of the 990 apply. They will not accept a paper filed return. My question - I have many clients who's 990's are due 12/15 and we prepare them around that date or so. That is after the e-file system is shut down until January. However, that is not one of the exceptions. Are we thinking they will still accept the paper filed return for that reason? Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 I don't think that the efile system for corporate or 990 returns shuts down, so you should still be able to file the return. The modernized efile system for 1040's is the one that shuts down for a couple of months. 1 Quote
Lee B Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 Don't know about Form 990, but last year business efile was shut down for the last week of December thru the first week of January. Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted November 6, 2020 Report Posted November 6, 2020 I should have said 990 is the same as business efile. Brief shut downs only - couple weeks around end of year, sometimes over night or on a weekend for maintenance. Quote
JackieCPA Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 Oh wonderful, Thanks! Quote
