schirallicpa Posted October 15, 2020 Report Posted October 15, 2020 so frustrating - the direct debit failed becasue of some efile timestamp error that I cannot get to work. So the other option is eft which requires passwords and supersecret PINS. Can't we put a damn check in the mail any more?! Quote
Abby Normal Posted October 15, 2020 Report Posted October 15, 2020 Business must pay with EFTPS. This is why the IRS automatically registers each EIN with EFTPS. At least, they used to. Quote
Lee B Posted October 15, 2020 Report Posted October 15, 2020 Setting up EFTPS is much easier than it used to be. 1 Quote
schirallicpa Posted October 15, 2020 Author Report Posted October 15, 2020 but we have to wait for the super secret PIN to come via snail mail. Why they can't just email it to you or give you a pop up screen to print when you get it - like when you get your EIN. 3 Quote
Lee B Posted October 15, 2020 Report Posted October 15, 2020 I have never done this, but supposedly your client can pay thru via his bank via an ACH credit. Quote
Abby Normal Posted October 15, 2020 Report Posted October 15, 2020 All 1120 taxpayers should be set up with EFTPS. If they don't have payroll, it's just something we have to remember to ask about so it's there when needed. Quote

At this point, if it's not a lot of money, I'd just wait two weeks for the PIN. 1 Quote
schirallicpa Posted October 16, 2020 Author Report Posted October 16, 2020 grumble...mumble..... I guess I figured it would be easy to go online and set up and be done. We'll wait. My client was great about it. He filed and paid in March last year - 2019 for the 2018 return, and IRS sent him a notice that he didn't pay. So he figures even if he pays on time it gets screwed up anyways. 2 Quote
