Elrod Posted August 18, 2020 Report Posted August 18, 2020 The Internal Revenue Service is now letting taxpayers submit Form 1040-X electronically when they want to file an amended tax return through commercial tax software, in what the agency called a “major milestone in tax administration.” https://www.accountingtoday.com/news/irs-makes-form-1040-x-amended-tax-returns-available-for-e-filing 2 Quote
Randall Posted August 18, 2020 Report Posted August 18, 2020 I haven't looked yet but is ATX ready? Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted August 18, 2020 Report Posted August 18, 2020 Yes, I believe ATX is ready for this. I think yesterday's news release from ATX said they would start accepting efiled 1040X on 8/19. Just yesterday I downloaded the updated 1040-X. Quote
ETax847 Posted August 18, 2020 Report Posted August 18, 2020 I tried amending a return today but did not see any option to E-file it. Has anyone had success with this yet? Quote

"Major milestone" CA has had efiling of amended returns for at least 4 years. Quote
