ed_accountant Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Has anyone used this form 8801 in ATX? I have a new client who used Turbo tax in 2006 and had a minimum tax credit carryforward to 2007, form 8801. I input the #s into ATX and the form 8801 and it calculates it incorrectly. Line 9 on Form 8801 does not calculate. Has anyone else had Form 8801 issues? Quote
jklcpa Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 My form 8801 seems to be calc line 9 correctly. It's ver 19 of the form. When I added the form to this year's return, I was actually surprised that ATX info populating the form with 2006 data even though it wasn't in the rollover. Anyway, since you used TurboTax last year, the thing I noticed is this: up at the top above the form, make sure you've entered the filing status used on LY return. When I deleted that entry, line 9 did indeed go blank. Maybe that'll fix you up. Quote
ed_accountant Posted March 30, 2008 Author Report Posted March 30, 2008 Thank you. The client used turbo tax not me... I did have the last year filing status completed but I did not have the taxpayers date of birth in the system. Line 9 will not cacluate unless you have the date of birth in the system and the taxpayer is older than 18. It is working now. Thank you for your help :) Quote
jklcpa Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Sorry Ed, I didn't mean you used TT, I did mean that TT was used to prep LY return. Anyway, I'm glad you solved the problem. Quote
