fran50 Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 PA does not have legal separation so client has to file MFS (no dependents). In 2019 she took ACA with PTC. MFS are not allowed the PTC, except under 2 exceptions, neither of which she qualifies for. However, ATX is allowing the credit on 8962. There is a box on the top of the 8962 to check if taxpayer meets the MFS exception. It does not matter if I check the box or not, ATX is giving her the credit. I have deleted the form and reentered it, still same result. Don't know how to fix this. Quote
Max W Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 The amount of the PTC payback is limited by the poverty limit percentages. The lowest amount of payback is limited to $600, when income is below 200% of pov. limit. , so if the PTC was $2000, she would still be getting $1200. Quote
