Chuck0729 Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 New to ATX, it loks like it only shows the federal efiling but does not show the State of NJ. Does it automatically do the NJ state filing at the same time? There did not seem to be a NJ box to select? Thanks for your help and feedback. Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Is your state set to 'hold' until the federal is accepted? Or is it unlinked from the federal? Did you click on 'created' in your efile tab? Try clicking on 'held' to see if the NJ is there, awaiting fed ack. Quote
EALCPA Posted February 8, 2021 Report Posted February 8, 2021 I was just on a Wolters Kluwer LIVE CHAT with "Martin". I asked "Do the 1099 NEC forms I e-file go to the State of NJ as well as the IRS?" Martin responded "Yes". Quote
JRS Posted February 8, 2021 Report Posted February 8, 2021 California requires the 1099NEC to be file directly to the state even if filed to the IRS. Quote

Afaik, and according to the latest update of Pub 1220, the IRS has not yet included the Form 1099-NEC in its combined fed/state filing program and will necessitate a separate state filing for these forms for any states that require them. Other 1099s and information returns that are transmitted are listed in a topic when I posted about this issue back in January (link below). Can you actually confirm from your e-file records that the "NEC" forms were transmitted to the state? Quote

I would be very skeptical and keep that chat transcript in my files for penalty abatement (reliance on an expert from the software company). Tom Modesto, CA 1 Quote
