3RD PARTY DESIGNEE

Hello all

 

is there something new to do on this for 2019?     I am checking the box on the main page but it doesn't seem to show on form 1040 now.    am I missing a new box to check this year?

If the preparer is the designee, check both boxes and see the box in the preparer section. 3rd party box will be blank.

I noticed this last year.  It was on Sch 6 I think.  This year it is back on page 2 of 1040.  But even with the boxes checked on the main info page, it doesn't show up on 1040 page 2.  Anyone else seeing this?

Third Party Designee will be blank 99.9999% of the time because the preparer is the 3rd party. This is not a change from last year.

I was just curious why it's blank.  Wasn't it printed on the form previously?

2017 was the last year, it was printed, then during the redesign of the form, and they decided (correctly) that all that was needed was a checkbox in the paid preparer section.

I still add it in both places to make sure if I need to discuss the return with the IRS, there are no issues.
