Abby Normal Posted January 23, 2020 Report Posted January 23, 2020 Line 3 of the worksheet is missing 1040 line 6 capital gains. I checked the 1040 instructions and the description for line 3 of this worksheet reads: Combine the amounts from Form 1040 or 1040-SR, lines 1, 2b, 3b, 4b, 4d, 6, and Schedule 1, line 9 ATX's description omits line 6. 2 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted January 23, 2020 Report Posted January 23, 2020 Good to know! I will have a few candidates for this. I assume you notified ATX so they might, might fix it. 1 Quote
Abby Normal Posted January 23, 2020 Author Report Posted January 23, 2020 Yes, I opened a case, plus I chatted with support and they opened another case. 3 Quote
Abby Normal Posted January 24, 2020 Author Report Posted January 24, 2020 Grrr. Maybe I wasn't specific enough, but support says the worksheet is just fine. Issue Summary Social Security benefits worksheet has a bug Description 1040 Line 5 Social Security Benefits worksheet line 3 does not match the one in the IRS 1040 instructions. It is missing line 6 capital gains. This is a copy/paste from the IRS instructions: lines 1, 2b, 3b, 4b, 4d, 6, and Schedule 1, line 9 However, your worksheet skips the 6: lines 1, 2b, 3b, 4b, 4d, and Schedule 1, line 9 Is this on your list of things to fix? Thanks! Joe Resolution Good Morning Mr. Davis, The layout is correct. According to the IRS, the worksheet is correct. Well at least the response was pleasant enough. That's a start. They may not be correct but at least they were nice. 3 Quote
Randall Posted January 24, 2020 Report Posted January 24, 2020 Thanks for the heads up. Just worked on a return with 20k short term cap gains. Without line 6, none of SocSec taxable. But with line 6 included, yes. I was able to override the amount in the ATX worksheet. I went back to 2018 ATX and entered info in the planner and got the correct result. 2 Quote

Randall Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Abby, any word back from ATX on this fix? Quote
Randall Posted January 29, 2020 Report Posted January 29, 2020 Just loaded a Forms update, not a Program update. This seems to be corrected. SocSec worksheet now including amounts from Line 6. 3 Quote
Abby Normal Posted January 29, 2020 Author Report Posted January 29, 2020 Just came her to post the same. On a bad note, the 1040ES will not be available tomorrow. The date changed to 2/6. 1 Quote
