David Posted July 9, 2019 Report Posted July 9, 2019 S Corp manufacturing business is planning to add solar panels and take the energy tax credit. They heard that they will also be able to include the cost of replacing the roof as long as it is part of the solar panel installation. I can't find anything definite regarding this in my tax research or on the IRS site. Can anyone enlighten me before I get back to the client? Thanks. Quote
Max W Posted July 10, 2019 Report Posted July 10, 2019 Didn't the (non-residnetial) business energy tax credits expire at end of 2017? I don't see it included in the extenders bill. Replacing the roof was never a part of the solar credit. However, if structual reinforcments were needed in order to install the panels, that would be part of the amount used for the credit. 1 Quote
