Christian Posted May 13, 2019 Report Posted May 13, 2019 I have made an address error in an efile I sent. Is there a form I can submit correcting this? The client owes tax so no refund is involved I simply need to correct the town name on the filed return. This, of course, also applies to the Virginia return. Quote
ADGFINANCIAL Posted May 13, 2019 Report Posted May 13, 2019 I had this problem a few years ago. Made a mistake like this on a small refund. Used Form 8822 to correct address. Saying that if no refund is involved and client is coming back next year just correct it then. Quote
jklcpa Posted May 13, 2019 Report Posted May 13, 2019 Because the address containing the incorrect city will be updated in the IRS system for all years, I would file Form 8822 to correct this because you never know if a notice or AUR issue may be coming for the current or earlier years. Unless the State of VA has its own similar form, I'd send a letter requesting the city be corrected in the state's record too. 1 Quote
