stupid question - Form 8453

Okay stupid question of the day. If you attach the pdf to the return and submit to IRS via efile, do you have to file form Form 8453 the transmittal of the docs to the IRS?  I thought it was only if you were not attaching and had to paperfile the documents.....???

If you e-file, you do not need 8453.  Form 8879 will be adequate.

I have not sent Form 8453, in 15 years.
