Dan Posted February 21, 2019 Report Posted February 21, 2019 QUESTION: What do you great tax prepares do when you have Federal, Kansas, and Oklahoma returns to efile? You live in Oklahoma but have income in both Kansas and Oklahoma. Kansas requires a copy of the Federal return be sent with Kansas return when its address is outside of Kansas. Oklahoma requires the Kansas and Federal return to be sent with it. I can efile the Federal return by itself. What about efiling the Kansas and Oklahoma returns with you have the above requirements? In the past, I have just had the client send the state returns in by paper form. Thanks for your thoughts! Quote
Lion EA Posted February 21, 2019 Report Posted February 21, 2019 I don't use ATX, but my software does take care of most multi-state issues with needing the other state return or just federal. For some years back, it would print out a cover sheet to PA for me to fax the other state in, but that's now handled within the e-filing now. Call tech support. Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 21, 2019 Report Posted February 21, 2019 If you're not getting any red errors when you try to create the efile (or just check for errors), then you're probably all set. You may have to attach a PDF of the federal and/or state return to the state returns, but I highly doubt the federal needs to be attached. Quote
mircpa Posted February 22, 2019 Report Posted February 22, 2019 Non resident tax return for Kansas, Resident tax return in Oklahoma & take credit for taxes paid in Kansas. You need to find out if OK & KS has reciprocal agreement. Quote
