Randall Posted November 8, 2018 Report Posted November 8, 2018 Differrent question but regarding 1041. Client wants to wrap up estate return. Was going to do a final short year ending Oct 31. I can't rollover from the calendar 2017 return. I duplicated the return but carryover loss on 8582 won't carryforward. I tried to overwrite but can't get it to work. I see a notification from ATX that 2018 will be out soon. I was wondering about waiting so I could do a rollover from calendar 2017. Quote
Abby Normal Posted November 8, 2018 Report Posted November 8, 2018 Go into rollover manager and click on the poorly named Last Month/Quarter tab. That lets you roll over 2017 returns to a short year 2018 return. 1 Quote
TAXMAN Posted November 8, 2018 Report Posted November 8, 2018 My thought would be are those 2018 forms even available yet as the k-1 instructions do not have the correct where to put #'s on the 2018 returns. I have been trying to figure this out as I too have a short year I would love to close and issue those k-1's. Thoughts???? Quote

You use the 2017 forms to do a short year 2018 return and enter the fiscal year dates at the top. If the year end is late enough in the year and the extended date falls late enough in tax season that ATX will have the business forms ready, then you can wait for the 2018 forms. Quote
