schirallicpa Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 I have a new dead client. (At least they can't complain about my bill, right?) Dying in 2017, an individual tax return should have been filed. However, the attorney is not sure if one was filed or not. Is there any way to find out without filing POA? 8821? Quote
Abby Normal Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 The personal representative might be able to get a transcript online, if not, paper file the 4506T-EZ and attach court appointment letter. 2 Quote
taxxcpa Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 Go to "Where's my refund" If a return has been filed it will tell you even if he owed 5 1 Quote

Abby Normal Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 I just tried it on me because I haven't file yet. Then I tried it on a client who has filed but owed. And it won't work because both result screens were identical. So, not brilliant. 2 Quote
