OHIO Income Tax Dept with a heart

I got a phone call today from Sheila Toney at the Oh Dept of Taxation concerning a return I had e-filed on January 30, with an Injured Spouse. She wanted me to mail her copies of the IS's W-2's. In this case the IS is the husband, all earnings are his. I explained this to her and I also told her that this young man is undergoing treatment for cancer, he's unable to work and when he has chemo once a month, he spends that week in the hospital. She asked me to fax the W-2s to her and the fax machine was right outside her office door, she would walk the forms to the payment dept and make sure the payment order was made today. I called the couple later and they told me that she had called and told them that the situation had been taken care of. Sometimes you find a heart in the middle of a mess!

In case anyone thinks I have invaded my client's privacy, there have been articles in the local papers about his medical situation along with fund raisers, raffles, collections. It is public knowledge as to his condition.
