Abby Normal Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 Pretty sure I've read similar stories from other users, but I just felt like venting/sharing. Had a car added in 16 with bonus and MACRS. In 17 the Auto/Listed tab was showing the correct depreciation, but Depreciation tab had some weird number that was not mileage depreciation or anything else I could think of. On Sch C the total actual expenses from the Auto/Listed tab was showing on line 9 car expenses. Depreciation line was blank (car is only asset with depreciation). I called my 'concierge support' and it sounded like I was being transferred but got cut off instead. So, being the independent type, I decided to delete the offending asset and re-add it. While I was re-entering the asset, the deleted asset reappeared like a zombie, so I deleted it again. Also, the new asset defaulted to SL FM depreciation instead of MACRS. I overrode it to 200DB HY. Later I was able to restore the method and convention and they stayed 200DB HY. So, onward and upward, but I lost half an hour over this. 1 Quote
Tax Prep by Deb Posted April 11, 2018 Report Posted April 11, 2018 Had a similar problem yesterday. Was adding a vehicle and wanted to do anportion as a section 179 said I couldnt because only MACRS ciuld and it had switched it to S/L. It seems to be tied into the listed propery tab. Everything was fine till I filled in the mileage section and answered the questions. 2 Quote
Abby Normal Posted April 11, 2018 Author Report Posted April 11, 2018 Sometimes the programmers try to do too much for us, and we'd be better off if they didn't. 1 Quote
