CHLA_LosAngeles Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 I know this forum is for preparers but I'm hoping I can get some help. The IRS issued me a fine for non-filing of returns. My accountant prepared my taxes, I e-signed them and he says he e-filed back when they were due but now he can't produce a confirmation number. I paid the taxes on time and the check was deposited. What's the best way to handle this, both with the IRS and with my accountant? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Evan S. Golar Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 This place is a forum for practitioners to discuss issues relevant to our occupation between ourselves. No one on this board can provide you sound advice until we know all the facts - I doubt any member here on on this board is your accountant. You need to deal with your accountant directly to resolve your issue.
grandmabee Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 If you paid your taxes by the due date there should not be any fines or penalties, interest etc. even if the return hasn't filed yet. which year are you talking about? File the return and IRS will see they is no money due and adjust your account. IF you are talking about a personal return. If you are referring to an company tax return ( partnership, Corporation etc.) then they will be fines.
