ammar18 Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 Hello, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this issue. I'm having a problem with a california return where the name is hyphenated, even if I remove the hyphen the name is 13 charactera long and the system will not accept it. Thank you so much. Quote
Lee B Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 Just start removing letters from the end of the name until the efile is allowed. I have never had a problem with truncating a last name. 2 Quote
Max W Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 The identifiers, beside the SSN, for individual returns consist of the first letter of the first name and the first 4 letters of the last name, so the last name can be truncated as cbslee says. 4 Quote
