Help with hyphenated name

Hello, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this issue. I'm having a problem with a california return where the name is hyphenated, even if I remove the hyphen the name is 13 charactera long and the system will not accept it. Thank you so much.

Just start removing letters from the end of the name until the efile is allowed.

I have never had a problem with truncating a last name.

The identifiers, beside the SSN, for individual returns consist of the first letter of the first name and the first 4 letters of the last name, so the last name can be truncated as cbslee says.
