Saw an article in the news that a woman in Tennessee was arrested when they found a body under her back patio. I immediately thought of Rita hugs. I thought she was kidding......now I am not so sure. Tom Modesto, CA I am pretty sure we are all safe with Rita unless we give her a reason to hug us.... 1 1 Quote

jklcpa Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 Uh, some advance planning - we need a volunteer to drain the gas out of Rita's backhoe ahead of time. Sounds like fun though. I'd be there if I could. 2 4 Quote

Maybe check neighbors too, as they might "hold" things for her. 1 5 Quote
TAXMAN Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 You know in all seriousness I think it would be great for someone to host a get together and everybody bring popular eats from your neck of the woods. Anybody game? 1 Quote
Richcpaman Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 I could bring Crabcakes. First... Abby. Rich 2 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 I could bring Cincinnati Chili! It's different. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Do they still sell Grapette in TN? Quote
jklcpa Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 I'll bring the beer from Dogfish Head brewery because some may not fully appreciate scrapple. Or I could bring locally grown fancy mushrooms delicious when marinaded and grilled. We still have plenty of mushroom houses within driving distance. 1 Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Somebody tag a date for this swaray so we can get started with some serious planning. Do I understand that Crossville, TN is the location? 1 Quote
BulldogTom Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Tri - Tip is my specialty, but I have to cook it on site. So that means I have to host because I need a grill. And beer. Tom Modesto, CA Quote

Catherine Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Boston Baked Beans? (And @Margaret CPA in OH I adore Cincinnati Chili! 3-way, 4-way, 5-way - whatever!) Quote
Catherine Posted February 9, 2018 Report Posted February 9, 2018 So, what about alternative dates and locations? I little birdie told me that May is a really bad time to descend on Rita - unless we want to be back-40-never-seen-again hugged (my addition to the birdie's tale). I have a nice yard, but no place for people to stay, and only a tiny grill big enough for a couple of burgers at a time. Quote

Catherine: If we are going descend on Rita's (and I hope she has Margarita's) The whole summer works for me except for the last two weeks in June. Maybe next year we go to Catherines! Rich 1 Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 9, 2018 Report Posted February 9, 2018 I'm good for sporadic periods May-December. Have to figure in reunions, dive trip, senior olympics, etc. TN is driving distance for me; MA, not so much but I will be there sometime this year to visit best friend's new granddaughter (I'll visit my friend, too, I guess). BulldogTom Posted February 9, 2018 Report Posted February 9, 2018 I will be in London for 10 days in the middle of May after my youngest Graduates from Berkeley with his degree in Mechanical Engineering. A long road trip after that may not be a bad thing. But I need a grill and beer when I get there. Tom Modesto, CA 2 Quote
BulldogTom Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 I talked to my spouse and she is in as well, but wants to know if they have Tri-Tip way over there in the paw-paw patch? Tom Modesto, CA 1 Quote

I probably can't travel much more than short day trips at the moment, and I'm also afraid that too many members here want to give me Rita-style hugs even though I'd enjoy being able to meet other members in person some day. Abby Normal Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 Maybe we should map the point that results in the shortest distance for most of us and see if any of us are near that point. Going to Dollywood is not really my thing, although with this group of wackos, it could be a very memorable experience! 3 Quote
TAXMAN Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 I still will have kids in school in May. I really did not think we would get this far when I suggested it. I agree maybe a couple dates and a central spot would be great for all of us that are interested. Travel may be a problem for some. Number of days required may be the other one. Just my 2 cents worth. 1 Quote
