Edsel Posted January 22, 2018 Report Posted January 22, 2018 Drake is asking for Drivers' License or other identification before accepting electronic filing. Is this mandated or is this just Drake? Makes sense to cut down on identity theft - so long as the states are not issuing fake DL numbers. Quote
Yardley CPA Posted January 22, 2018 Report Posted January 22, 2018 This article is a bit dated but provides helpful information: http://www.marcumllp.com/insights-news/states-require-drivers-license-for-e-filing-tax-returns I could not find anything more current concerning the requirement of drivers license information. Edsel, please note that in the bottom left corner of the "IDS" screen, there are boxes that can be checked that will allow the e-file to process if the states included in the return don't require the DL or state i.d. to be entered. One box indicates that the TP doesn't have a DL or i.d., and the second box is if the TP didn't provide one of those. 1 Quote
Edsel Posted January 23, 2018 Author Report Posted January 23, 2018 Good responses. Drake allows you to "bail out" but I didn't know whether this was in cases of revocation or other situations. From your responses, the states are still driving the issue and not the Feds. Thanks, Edsel Quote
