RachelWV Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Yesterday a gentleman came in to the office speaking very little English saying he came to the US from Puerto Rico in June. He has 2 W-2's and reports that he is supporting 2 step children that live in Buffalo, NY with a woman friend who cares for them. He says he sends them money every week for their support. This is a whole new thing for me and I'm not sure how to proceed. Anyone have some thoughts/experience for me??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rachel Quote
Pacun Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Did you ask him if he was a U.S. Citizen? "he came to the US from Puerto Rico in June", means nothing. Was he born in Puerto Rico? If he said he is a U.S. citizen, I don't see any problems except that you will have to file part year in Puerto Rico and part year in.... (I don't know what state since you didn't update your profile). Quote
