ETax847 Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 My software received an update today. I'm not sure if it improved any of the current functionality though. Quote
Abby Normal Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 Latest update was 16.6 released back in May. Quote
Lee B Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 It's probably the setup for the tax organizer. Quote
Lee B Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 Interesting, there aren't any new updates listed in the download center ? Quote
jklcpa Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 Maybe he hasn't used the software since sometime in May? It doesn't update if it isn't run, right? Also, it seems too early for the organizer update. If I recall, ATX would make that available around Thanksgiving or early Dec Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I downloaded an update a week or more ago which included the organizer. As I've been completing my extended returns I've also printed the organizers, though it might be a mistake to hand them to the client this early. Last year I didn't get the organizers out to clients until late January - in retrospect that was too late. Too early - too late - something in between. 2 Quote
jklcpa Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 Interesting. I really don't remember ever having the organizers in October from any software. Printing them while in the returns is a good idea, and I agree that this seems too early for clients to have them. 1 Quote
SaraEA Posted October 12, 2017 Report Posted October 12, 2017 Microsoft had a security update last night. Is that the software that was installed and not ATX? With tax policy being in such limbo in Washington, I'd be surprised if any company has an organizer ready until next spring. Remember a few years ago when Congress was in the habit of passing retroactive tax legislation the week after Christmas? IRS did an amazing job getting the most common things up and running for the start of tax season, but there was one year when education credit forms and AMT weren't ready until March. Not helpful for those who needed to fill out FAFSAs. 2 Quote
