Roberts Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 I searched and it seems a few of you are certified? Do you get much business with it? How do you advertise your service? I saw the IRS site lists people / firms. Thanks Quote
MDEA Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 I just got it in January have done no business yet. I had hoped for immigration reform and that would create business. I am going to start some on line adds after labor day. Quote
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 I was a CAA and garnered zero business. No one wanted to pay a fee for that. The IRS rvoked my CAA status since I had not prepared,or submitted any forms in 5 years. Quote
ILLMAS Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 I should become one, I prepare 2 or 4 a year, however I prefer for the IRS to review the documents and say yes or no. Another reason why I stay away from becoming a notory public. Quote

(If I may be so bold to ask) I've seen fees advertised all over the map. One guy locally charges $50 (an attorney). Another firm it's $100 if you are a tax client, $300 if you aren't. Advertising online like with Google ad words will mean charging a very considerable fee. I don't know what H&R Block charges. Noticed last week a CPA down the street is heavily advertising this service - $200 per applicant. I do taxes for foreign doctors at a local university hospital and for foreign professors. I think I can do the 5 per year the IRS requests from that. I noticed a few years ago a guy paid $500 for an immigration attorney in another city to do the job and had no clue what anyone else would charge. The same attorney wanted to charge him $1,500 for his taxes. He charged $3k to declare that money loaned to him in a foreign country wasn't taxable income in the US! Quote
ILLMAS Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 Foreign doctors usually have no money issue, I think $200 or $500 is chump change to them. Quote
Max W Posted August 28, 2017 Report Posted August 28, 2017 I was a CAA maybe 6 or 7 years ago. My fee was $75, but the few people that called wanted it were not interested. Quote
