Booger Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 New client came in with their tax info and wanted me to file for the Slavery Reparation Credit and/or Deduction. I told them that I had to find out from other practitioners what IRS Form to use to claim this amount. What Form would you use? I think that the 1040-PRISON Form is appropriate. JohnH Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I thought you wer supposed to initially file the 1040-AUDIT_ME form for this type of claim. The 1040-PRISON is used to amend the original. Quote
cientax Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I would use the Form 10(40 Acres And A Mule) Schedule which is available at the Lincoln Literary Arts Library in Lincoln Alabama. Quote
jainen Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 >>Slavery Reparation Credit<< There's a lot of misunderstanding about this. Most people think it is for people who were slaves. It actually can only be claimed by people who were slavers and suffered economic damages when their slaves were freed. You must take the credit on an original return filed timely (including extensions) for the year of loss. Quote
Booger Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Thanks for all your responses! I get a warm feeling when I can assist a client in getting the maximum refund back. Booger Quote
OldJack Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 No doubt your client will get the maximum alright. Quote

Booger (Emancipation Proclamation Guy) It's a credit silly not a deduction. I always file it on the "Alchohol Used As Fuel" credit form. Next time call Betty Sue BEFORE you file. lbb Quote
