Pacun Posted March 6, 2017 Report Posted March 6, 2017 I want to take an updated Payroll course with ACA included. Has anyone taken a good beginner's payroll course in the past with or without ACA (since ACA is new)? Thank you for your recommendation. If you have learned payroll from books or websites, please share your experience too. Quote
ILLMAS Posted March 6, 2017 Report Posted March 6, 2017 I don't touch any payroll clients that involve health insurance, I let ADP deal with it, but I would recommend just taking a basic payroll course. Quote
Pacun Posted March 7, 2017 Author Report Posted March 7, 2017 Thank you Illmas. Any other suggestions? Quote
Medlin Software, Dennis Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 With some exceptions, payroll is not as complicated as it might appear. Pub 15 and the state publication(s) are a good start. A basic payroll can easily be done by hand, which means it is easy to learn. I always suggest anyone with payroll duties have the ability to prepare a payroll by hand. It helps reduce errors once you reply on software and do nothing more than input hours and spit out checks and reports. What is not in the books is understanding the liability involved, based on the part one takes in the process. Quote
