trucker per diem question

As I recall, the over-the-road trucker can take meals per diem @ 80% but cannot take the lodging per diem - that is only actual expense.  Does that sound right?

Correct. The only use for the lodging per diem is employers reimbursing employees. No one else can claim it as an expense. They must use actual.
