ATX Tax Research

For those who have the Intelliconnect.  The latest update is supposed to allow us to click on a line and take us to the research for that line item.  Also, hovering the cursor on the line will give us a popup.  I am getting the popup and there is a link to go to the tax research but when I put my cursor on that link, the link grays out and doesn't take me to the research.  Also when I right click on a form item, I get the popup menu but when I click on the tax research line item, it doesn't take me to the research.  I can click on the Tax Research button at top and it takes me to the research but only to the opening screen of Intelliconnect.  I was under the impression the new update would take me not only to the tax research but to the specific topic of the form line item.

Anyone else trying this in ATX?

I am having no trouble.  Are you clicking the link that grays out? Mine grays out too but when I click on it I am taken to a web site where I have to select the year, the form and the line item.  Then click "show results", then click "show discussion" and that takes you to the intelliconnect website where you can find the information you are looking for.

I'll try it again.  I was clicking the link after it grayed out.  But wasn't going anywhere.  Thanks.

Tax line research has always been in the right-click menu for tax form lines, and it's a clunky interface just as rfasset described.

The right click menu also has Master Tax Guide or you can click on the green Tax Research icon in the top bar.

If you click on the green Tax Research icon, you can get to the TPP 1040 Lite tax line research by expanding:

Federal Tax
Federal Tax Editorial Content
CCH Tax Prep Partner
TPP 1040 Lite

and then scroll thru the various subjects. Or click on CCH A-LINE-D and that clunky interface will open in a popup window.

Thanks Abby.  Yes, I have the Total Tax Office package.  Not sure  how much more cost for each level up.

It's included in the Max package. It may well not be included in whatever levels are lower than Max.

Abby, what's the TPP 1040 Lite.  I see in the comparison chart, that's listed under the Max package but not the Total Tax package.  I think I have that under my package.  I didn't see the TPP 1040 Lite listed as you mentioned but I have the CCH A LINE D in my list of items in Intelliconnect.

I still don't get anything when I click on the 'Open Tax Research' link in the popup.  When I right click in a form line, I get the menu.  Clicking on Master Tax Guide takes me there but when I click on the 'Tax Line Research' item in the menu, I don't go anywhere.  I have to click on the green button at top 'Tax Research'.  Thanks for your earlier tip on doing that, then Federal Tax, Fed Tax Editorial Content, CCH Tax Prep, etc.

I need to utilize this more.

I guess the TPP 1040 Lite is a lesser version Practical Tax Expert Pro that comes with TTO and Advantage. I'm not surprised that it's still accessible in Intelliconnect. Do you see Practical Tax Expert Pro?

I see Practical Tax Expert under Federal Tax Editorial Content.  A list of topics available.  It doesn't say Pro though.  I also have under the CCH Tax Prep Partner Series, not just 1040 but 1041, 1065, 1120 and 1120S.
