Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 Knocking wood here, too, as i have had incredibly few issues since 1998 use. Right now I admit I am 2 hours into working on a puzzling error for the name on 6 trusts. I get an error message that I entered a value of "trust name" on the sheet "Return Info" duh! which I actually did not enter. It has rolled over from last year and the year before that. Moved up to the third level and waiting. There are options to shorten and make the error disappear but, silly me, I want to know the reason why it worked before, doesn't work now. Okay, 2 hours 40 minutes later and cut off twice, the solution is to remove the slashes in the date, i.e., 05/11/2004 doesn't work this year must use 05112004. Good to know and I hope it's the only call this season. I've averaged about one every 3 years so am okay with that. Quote

Margaret, this information would be a good post for our Tips and Tricks pinned post. 2 Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 28, 2017 Report Posted February 28, 2017 You also don't have to enter the entire trust name. The IRS just uses the 4 letter name control. Quote
