schirallicpa Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 thought we were supposed to be able to start this week? Quote
jklcpa Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 It's scheduled to open on the 1/23/17 for individual returns. The status page says the date for filing business tax returns opens on 1/6/17. https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/e-file-providers-partners/modernized-e-file-mef-status-page 1 Quote
grmy2h Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Some are reporting in some facebook groups that they began receiving acks this evening. Quote

Not sure how this can be. Maybe the acks are coming from the software company who are holding them until the 23rd. Not really an ack from IRS. Quote
Randall Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 I think ATX will be accepting returns on 1/20 and holding them until 1/23 to submit to IRS. Quote
Abby Normal Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 I tried to create an efile for a 1040 with just a W2 and EIC and ATX says the forms aren't ready, but it doesn't say which forms and ATX's website is useless for seeing which forms are not ready to efile. Quote

One poster is saying IRS is accepting them for testing purposes. Quote
Lee B Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 The IRS always has a test period where providers who sign up in advance can submit returns and receive acks a few days early. Quote

Abby Normal Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 We can create 1040 efiles now. Just not many states available yet. Start your engines! Vroom-vroom. Quote
windmill Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 When can 2015 tax returns be efiled? Quote
Catherine Posted January 21, 2017 Report Posted January 21, 2017 Officially, Monday. Although I e-filed an extension on Wednesday morning and got an acceptance back in a couple of hours. (Someone who is going to be away until late March, expects a refund, and doesn't want to rush -- my first non-payroll "return" of the season!) Quote
BulldogTom Posted January 24, 2017 Report Posted January 24, 2017 Got my first Federal Ack this evening. Waiting for CA. Sent the return on Saturday. Tom Newark, CA 1 Quote
